If your cat has never tried raw food before or has only had raw food but never Bella+Duke, it may take some time for them to adjust. Cats are naturally cautious creatures, and this includes trying new foods, so it is common for them to walk away from unfamiliar options at first. This reaction is normal.
A gradual introduction to the new food can help them become comfortable with it. Sudden changes in diet can upset some cats' stomachs, and if they associate the food with feeling unwell, they may refuse to eat it again.
Avoid setting a time limit on how long it should take for your cat to accept their new food; allow them to adapt at their own pace, even if it takes several weeks.
Start by offering very small amounts of raw food alongside their regular food, either in the same bowl or in a separate one. Once they are happily eating this small amount, you can gradually increase the quantity, but do so only in small increments. For additional information on encouraging your cat to try raw food, please refer to our guide, How to switch your cat to a raw cat food diet.
It's also common for a cat to initially enjoy a food and then suddenly lose interest. Various factors can contribute to this change, including shifts in the weather or boredom with flavors they once loved. We suggest reducing the size of their meals, as larger portions may become overwhelming.
You can also enhance their meals with flavorful additions like Magic Sprinkles or bone broth, which can make the food more enticing. For more feeding tips, check out our guide titled Why is Your Cat Not Eating Their Food?
