If your cat is hungry and able to eat we recommend gradually increasing their portions to help them gain weight and improve their body condition. The best way to do this is to start with a 2.5% increase in their portion and then reweigh your cat in a week. If you find they’re still not gaining weight at this stage you can increase their food amount by another 2.5% and then check again in another week.
If there’s still no improvement then the next step in getting your cat back to a healthy weight is to book in with your vet for a check up to make sure there’s nothing clinical going on that they’ll need veterinary care for.
Cats that find it more difficult to eat or don’t have much of an appetite may gain weight being fed smaller more frequent meals.
