Organs are more nutritious than muscle meat because they have a higher concentration of minerals and trace minerals. Each organ in an animal's body has a specific nutritional profile that offers different health benefits.
To ensure that our recipes contain the necessary mix of essential amino acids, we add a combination of organs. Both dogs and cats need essential amino acids, but they can't produce them on their own.
Dogs need 10 essential amino acids, while cats need 11, and they also require taurine. This is why wild animals usually consume organs first, and most animals have approximately 25% organ meat by weight. Our recipes contain more than 25% organ meat on average. However, organs like liver and kidney should not be added at levels above 5% to recipes because of the high concentration of vitamin A.
