Cats have a sophisticated digestive system that can cope with a wide variety of different foods at the same time. So, the majority of cats will tolerate mix-feeding.
Some cats may struggle with a straight switch from processed food to raw food, due to the different composition being a shock to their system. These cats often cope much better with a gradual switch that involves mixing the raw food with their current food, and slowly increasing the ratio of raw to processed food.
As many cats are suspicious of food changes, most people have to introduce raw meals gradually to allow their cat time to adapt. This means that many cat owners will mix feed for a time to begin with.
We all know that some cats can be fussy, and sometimes mixed feeding can be a great way to encourage them to eat.
There are a small number of cats who don’t do so well with mixed feeding, and will need their raw and dry, or wet food fed at separate times.
