Ideally we recommend feeding as much raw food as possible. This could be feeding 75% raw and 25% wet food, or 50% raw and 50% dry cat food.
Here’s how to work out how much to feed of each type of food:
- Using our feeding calculator, work out the daily amount of raw your cat should have (the figure will be based on feeding 100% raw)
- Check the packet or manufacturer’s website to understand the daily amount for the wet, dry, or cooked food you’re using (the figure will be based on feeding 100% of the chosen food)
- Next, calculate the proportion of raw v wet, dry, or cooked. For example, if you’ve decided to feed 50/50, divide the recommended amounts in half. If you’ve decided to feed 75/25 take the recommended amount for raw food and, using a calculator, multiply by 75%, then multiply the recommended wet or dry food amount by 25%. The same method can be used for any other proportions you wish to feed
